A walking frame is one of the most popular aids for improving mobility. They are lightweight, compact and customizable. Walking frames are very different from rollators though as they have far less features to keep their weight down. Pickup frames are far lighter than rollators are due to this reason and are also very flat- many will fit inside a suitcase, let alone a car or cupboard. It is for this reason that many people use walking frames inside their home where they will not need brakes, a seat or major storage.
The tradional method of using a pickup frame is, as the name implys, picking it up, walking forward, putting it down and then repeating as nessisary. However there are a number of accessoies you can purchase to increase the ease of mobility such as fitting front wheels and rear skis\skids or front and rear wheels.
Although pickup frames do not generally have too much in the way of storage options, there are a number of items you can buy to offer a little carrying support. There are net baskets, trays to attach to the front, bags to store keys and phone- just be carefull not to overload these methons. If carrying items is the primary goal, you may find a rollator or traymobile more suitable for your needs.
