There was a time when having an elevator in your home sounded... excessive. They were big and cumbersome, expensive, noisy and ugly. That has all changed now that Homelift have introduced their new lift system: The Duet.
The Duet lift is a compact two-person lift that can be installed into most homes in a matter of days. It runs off standard 240v power (plugged straight into an outlet) and can take a maximum load of 170kg per run. A standard job with costs approximately $25,000 depending on installation requirements (boring through concrete etc.) though personally I have not seen a standard installation go over $30,000.
There might be some people who still believe that to be too expensive. That is where you start to consider the alternatives, such as to move to a single-story house. Consider stamp duty (on both the old and the new house), agents fee's, loan fee's and moving costs... suddenly $30,000 sounds quite attractive.
Homelift also have a wheelchair-accessible version which has a slightly larger footprint. Whereas the Duet can fit two standing people, the wheelchair version allows for a chair to be placed inside so that you can sit whilst traveling up or down. It is not only used by people in wheelchairs; many have opted to go the wheelchair model purely so that they have more room inside the lift.
The Mobility Shop has a Duet lift installed at their warehouse in Pennant Hills, NSW. If you would like any more information on the Duet or other Homelift products, please feel free to call us on 1300 133 505 or fill out an enquiry form on the 'Home Elevators' page.
