Review: The Pat Saunders Straw with One-Way Valve

It is often the small day to day issues in life that become difficult to manage when living with a disability or impairment. For example, quite a few people experience difficulty in drinking through a standard straw- it takes quite a lot of effort to bring the fluid up to the mouth, then when you rest the suction reverses all your hard work.

The Pat Saunders straw is a terrific little gadget that allows the fluid to only travel one way: straight up to your mouth! If you need to rest, simply stop drawing on the straw. The next time you attempt to drink the fluid has remained in the unit and requires less effort to drink! You can use this item with hold or cold drinks, and the straw comes with a little clip that helps attach it to the side of your cup or glass.

Another advantage of this system is that it helps to avoid unnecessary air being drawn into the users stomach by way of accidental inhalation (which can cause pain and discomfort). They are reusable and can be rinsed\washed by normal means or boiled for sterilization. However, they should not be used in a dishwasher and are unsuitable for semi-solids.
